In 2019 and early 2020, VidDay partnered with School for Kids in Laos, a Canadian registered charity helping improve learning environments for children in rural Laos.
What began as support for school supplies grew into something much larger. As VidDay grew, we were able to increase our contribution enough to help fund the construction and outfitting of a new school.
It remains one of the early projects we’re especially proud to have supported.
It started with school supplies
Our first contribution helped provide school supplies for children in Laos.
In 2019, we received a video showing one of those school kit deliveries. Seeing the supplies reach the children made the impact much more tangible for our team.

At the time, a portion of every VidDay video sold was being donated to School for Kids in Laos. As more people began using VidDay, those contributions grew too.
Before long, we were able to support something much bigger than the original school kits.
How VidDay helped build a school in Laos
School for Kids in Laos builds schools for children in rural communities where access to a suitable learning environment can be limited.
Our contributions grew enough to help fund important parts of a new school project in Khonevat village.

VidDay’s support helped provide:
Classroom construction
A water supply for students and staff
Electricity for the school
Student benches and desks
Desks and chairs for teachers
Chalkboards
Sanitary washrooms
Textbooks and learning materials
For us, that list is what makes the project memorable.
“Helping build a school” can sound abstract until you picture the things children need every day. A desk to work at. Clean water. A washroom. Light in the classroom. Books they can learn from.
Those practical pieces came together to create a better place for children to learn.
Why this project mattered to us
VidDay was created to help people come together for someone they care about. As the company grew, we also wanted some of that growth to benefit people beyond the videos being made on our platform.
Supporting School for Kids in Laos gave us an early opportunity to do that in a very concrete way.
A contribution that began with school supplies eventually helped support a classroom, infrastructure, furniture, sanitation, and learning materials for children thousands of kilometres from our home in Canada.
We didn’t start the partnership knowing it would grow that far. That’s part of why the project has stayed with us.
Small contributions accumulated into something we could actually point to and say, we helped make that possible.
Part of VidDay’s story
Our partnership with School for Kids in Laos belongs to an earlier chapter of VidDay, but we think it’s still worth sharing.
It documents a real project, the people we worked with, and one of the first times VidDay was able to turn the growth of our company into an impact outside of our product.
As VidDay co-founder Denis Devigne said at the time:
“We strive to leave this planet better than we’ve found it.”
The programs VidDay supports have changed over the years, but the idea behind that statement still matters to us.
