Rethinking the Way We Celebrate Children’s Parties

Across the country, parents are feeling the pressure of children’s birthday parties — the gifts,

the clutter, and the endless stream of plastic that follows. According to a recent survey by No Crap Parties, 40% of parents dread the gifting aspect of kids’ parties. Only 9% genuinely enjoy it.

The truth? Many families are ready for a change.

That’s why VidDay has proudly signed the Kids’ Party Pact, a movement created by No Crap Parties to make children’s celebrations more affordable, sustainable, and joyful.

The Problem: Too Much Stuff, Too Little Joy

Parents love seeing their kids celebrate with friends, but they don’t love what happens next — piles of plastic toys, extra clutter, and the guilt of knowing that much of it will end up in the bin.

Here’s what parents told No Crap Parties:

  • 80% worry about added clutter.

  • 77% are concerned about the amount of plastic being purchased.

  • 57% say too many toys come home from one single party.

  • 43% say gifting stretches their budget or feels unaffordable.

Despite this, 81% of parents still buy new gifts for every party. Old habits — and social pressure — are hard to break.

The Shift: Parents Want Something Different

The survey found that 22% of parents already include gift guidance on invitations, and another 53% would consider it. Many are now suggesting second-hand gifts, books, or even “no gifts, please.”

And the dreaded party bag? 68% of parents dislike them — calling for simpler, more sustainable ideas.

Clearly, the appetite for change is real.

What Is the Kids’ Party Pact?

The Kids’ Party Pact, started by No Crap Parties, is a collective promise from parents who want to celebrate without the stress, waste, or guilt.

It’s built around three simple principles:

Affordable

Taking the stress out of feeling like every invite needs an expensive, store-bought gift.

Planet-Friendly

Helping families choose gifts that bring joy today and protect the planet for tomorrow.

Full of Joy

Reminding us that the best memories don’t come from piles of presents but from people and laughter shared together.

The goal is to reach 10,000 parents who will help shift gifting culture for good. Together, we can replace plastic tat and pressure with connection and creativity.

Why VidDay Joined the Movement

At VidDay, we’re all about creating joy without the junk. A VidDay video gift captures love, laughter, and memories — no packaging required. It’s a meaningful, eco-conscious way to celebrate that fits perfectly with the Kids’ Party Pact values.
